What is IndianPad?

IndianPad is a social bookmarking and blogging site where our users (you!) submit stories and other users decide by their voting power what gets to the front page.

You can browse through latest news or eyeball user pictures in their profiles (our profile - IndianPad). You can also bookmark interesting articles that you come across on the web by submitting a story about them at this site. The stories people submit or vote on says a lot about them and we believe that a similar point-of-view is a great thing if you wish to make new friends or meet interesting people or even start a relationship. If all this doesn't rock your boat then browsing the articles is a whole lotta fun as well.
How do I submit stories to this site?

The easiest way to submit a story is to use the bookmarklet as it allows you to submit links in one click without any copy/paste issues.

Stories/News/Gup-Shup - that's what this site is all about. So if you upload something or see something online that you wish to share just click on the submit story link. Some helpful pointers on how to publish are also available here.
How do I vote/comment on this site?

Just click on the voting button, , besides every story to vote for it. We allow users to vote without registration but only one vote is allowed from an IP address.

Please note that we DO NOT track you and voting anonymously does not save the story in your profile. We encourage you to login if you wish to bookmark interesting stories in your profile.
What's on my profile page?

Every time you submit, vote, or comment on a story it is tagged and stored within your user profile. The profile page also allows you to do the following tasks in one place -
a) Update personal information;
b) Add details that you wish other users to see;
c) Upload photos to your account;
d) Manage comments on your profile - you can enable/disable comments that you deem to be derogatory or trolls;
e) You can also check the news submitted by you; your news on the front page; stories you voted for; stories you commented on.

You can view your profile by clicking your username on the top left corner or going here.
How do I get an icon on my comments?

Indianpad uses the avatar (image) you upload on your profile on all its pages.
How do you prevent against spam?

We have started a new system of rating users and users who have been active on the site for a while will see more options than others.
a) New users have to enable their account by responding to an email;
b) Rapid voting has been disabled as that encourages trolls and scripts to skew the vote;
c) IP address is logged with the vote and multiple votes from the same IP address have been disabled;
d) Anonymous voting is allowed with IP address logging.
Whats up with the 'textile enabled' links all over the site?

Textile is a format created by Textpattern that allows users to enter html using very simple tags. The technical details of what it does are available here.

You can try the various tags and play with the format on this page.
Can I make money by placing ads on my stories?

Login and visit your profile page. On that page, you will find an option to include ads within your stories. Choose 'Yes', and then enter your Client ID to have your ads appear under your stories.
There is no revenue-sharing here. 100% of the ad revenue is given out to the users!

How do I add smilies to my comments?

We support the following smilies in our comments (from http://squaries.phrea.com/). Enter the text on the left and we will convert it to smilies on the right.
