I hate when sites that just want the ad space or resell value snatch up sites that are already exsisting sites. This happen to a friend of mine – she had a site for 3 years and tried to transfer the domain… in that process someone bought her domain and then tried to resell it to her for 890.00!!! she didnt ever even make a dime from that site and they expected her to pay that much for a site she already owned – they just stole from her. thats messed up.

I am not impressed. Kinda Not So Healthy move i must say.

EvieVonTess … that happens all the time, someone recently took google.de from google. Later google had to take the guy to court and get their domain back.

This technique of domain-squatting is used by hackers all the time. Hackers generally buy domains like :

• www.statebank0findia.com ( its not “o” but Zero in “of” )
• www.citibank.in ( change the domain from “.com” to “in” )
• .. and so on …

Then Hackers send spam to everyone, asking users to Login to these bad domains. Since, the difference in domain name is very smartly crafted – some users login with their account names etc.. which get stolen.

Yeah I know that’s how they do it, but I think that is a horrible thing to do to people. Don’t hackers have anything better to do with their lives then destroy others… It’s so ignorant.

This was not expected from Indiasphere…poor marketing

like getting all the traffic from indianpad wasn’t enough but I dont think there motive is to hack or spam but to cash in on the popular domain name

I hate when people do this, they are only looking to increase their own traffic by using a domain that resembles a already established one, that way when you look it up in a search engine it will most likely receive a hit as well. Its bull crap!

IndianPad owners, if you are looking to get that domain, simply email the people, let them know you already have legal right to the name, and tell them you want it, or you will sue. Legally, they cant keep it. At least thats how it is here in the USA.

I have witnessed this occur a few times in the past. Every time the domain was given over with no problem.

lol, I like the fact that even indiasphere voted for this. They are probably getting some good traffic from this story as well…

IndiaSphere – I think your missing the point. The point is the domain name already exists, and is being used for some thing. Search engines do this constantly to make profit, which is a horrible thing to do for a person who is trying to start some thing big. Who knows the owner of IndianPad could have wanted to create a seperate section using the .net domain, simply to keep the same domain name, unique to the same network of websites. The mere fact you purchased it knowing the other site existed, as well as posting to “up” this one to the front page proves nothing the less a shallow gesture to begin with. I consider it extremely messed up for some one to do this. Especially knowing and using the other site. Its like working on some one with a invention, going on your own with the combined knowledge both of you developed together, and competing with that person. Its not right.

I hope you rethink your strategy, regardless of what “already exists” and what does exist now. I hope your a better person then that. Freely give the owner of this site that domain name. Its the right thing to do.

Indianpad should have known better and should have acted on this earlier by registering domains and such.
