It started not so well for India in the first One-dayer against Pakistan at Nehru stadium in Guwahati on Monday. Pakistan won the toss to lose the match. But Indians frustrated Pakistan with their clinical performance in each department by 5 wickets to gain a 1-0 lead in the series.

Captain of the winning team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and his team couldn’t have asked for a better start to their campaign against Pakistan in the series which Pak coach Geoff Lawson termed as ‘bigger than the Ashes’.

Just when everything was going smooth for Team India, the issue of Test captaincy rose its head on Tuesday which may harm the players’ state of mind in the second One-dayer at PCA stadium in Mohali or until a player finally gets the charge.

Didn’t the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) consider any time better to sort out the Test captaincy issue? May be, because timing was bad. May be not, because the Test team is still without a captain. With Sachin Tendulkar refusing to lead the selectors’ eagerness have borne no results and are once again at a loss. Remember the Graham Ford episode. The captaincy issue, ideally, should have been sorted much before the series had started rather than disturbing the winning rhythm in the Indian camp.
