It is finally time for the Spin King to call it quits. Anil Kumble will announce his retirement after the Kotla test on Sunday.

MS Dhoni will reportedly take over as Test captain.

As reported first on CNN-IBN, Kumble will retire from cricket at the conclusion of the final day’s play at Kotla. It is believed that Kumble will quit with immediate effect.

Kumble who sustained an injury on his left hand while fielding in the first innings and bowled with 11 stitches has been in poor form this year.

He has also been under pressure for his place, especially after Amit Mishra claimed seven wickets in his debut in the last Test at Mohali.

The selectors have been informed and Dhoni will formally take over as captain from the fourth test in Nagpur.

The Kotla test when Kumble took all 10 wickets is etched in memory forever. Kumble’s genius was one thing but Srinath bowling wides when he was bowling to the last batsman was an ideal example of the camarederie shared by the teammates
