The events of the last few weeks are freaking me out. Anil Kumble has gone, Sourav Ganguly will go, and the other three may not be far behind. I assume there is a large group of cricket fans in their mid-to-late 20s, like me, who are grappling with the implications. This transition is messing with our minds.

Wow.. some of this is so true. Explains the part of me that was feeling uneasy over these guys announcing their retirement.. Great article spencer, thanks for posting!
Its more than religion – the article just made me cricket home sick .. all that hero cup Tendulkar glitters .. In 2003 World cup when Ganguly team won all the matches and are in finals …. Dravid hitting South Africa’s Donald and Kluciner … those are happy days ..
great post ..
I feel so lucky to have lived in an era where I have seen Sachin bat at his very best.
My cousin’s kid is 7 and he keeps on telling me Tendulkar should also retire because he is too slow in his run making. – I feel disgusted but somehow don’t feel the need to teach him the piece of recent history world witnessed.
Now I know what people back then felt about Sir Donald Bradman and now, coz it’s some thing unexplainable they witnessed and only they can feel how lucky they were to see the ‘legend’ then, and likewise is true in my case.
