Officials are considering allowing Illinois-American Water Co. to include sewer bills on water and trash statements to save on postage, but the idea is not flowing smoothly with some.

“My initial reaction is, it is privatization, and I am against privatization,” City Treasurer Cindy Roth said. “I worry that if we start privatizing that part of city services, what is next? I am not against the city saving money, but I’m not sure this is the proper way to go about it. I feel the citizens will be the biggest losers. They will not receive the personal service they have right now.”
