Each of a new series of awards instituted to recognise outstanding contributions made by Indian workers abroad will carry a citation and a cash of Rs 100,000.

These awards, instituted by the ministry of overseas Indian affairs, will be separate from the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman awards that are presented to members of the Indian diaspora, both NRIs and persons of Indian origin.

A maximum of 10 such awards under the Pravasi Bharatiya Shramik Samman scheme will be presented in the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, the annual conclave of the Indian diaspora organised by the ministry, a senior official said.
