Two people were killed after a portion of a water pipeline underneath a pedestrian bridge on the suburban Mulund-Thane route came crashing on a moving local train here on Friday, police said. The train’s motorman, identified as Ramachandran, who was trapped for several hours, succumbed to his injuries a short while ago.

11 people were injured and have been taken to the Thane Civil Hospital, three of them are in serious condition. The mishap took place when a part of the under-construction Kopri water pipeline bridge fell on a Kalyan-bound train around 1030 hours, they said.
