NEW DELHI: In a verdict which is sure to interest former Test cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu, Supreme Court ruled last week that high courts should not reverse acquittal orders passed by lower courts after meticulous scrutiny of evidence.
If the trial court feels that two views are possible and takes the view of acquittal, the appellate court should not convict the accused merely because the other view was possible, a Bench concluded.
