Public sector undertaking, Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) has decided to name its new opencast mine after India’s first ever individual gold medallist in Beijing Olympics, Abhinav Bindra.

The Mini Ratna company, WCL will name its opencast coal project Abhinav to honour the gold medallist, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of WCL, D C Garg announced, a release from the company said. The project Ghonsa is in Wani north area.
