Congress may not want President A P J Abdul Kalam back in Rashtrapati Bhavan and BJP may be opposed to giving him a second term, but India’s rocket scientist president surely has the country rooting for him to stay back.

It’s not just the finger-tapping generation on online chat groups that wants Kalam — which they do — but, as a Times of India-TNS poll across eight cities shows, more than 72% of urban Indians prefer Dr Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam over other possible contenders whose names have been floated in the run-up to the July presidential poll.
