IT education provider NIIT said it has struck a highest salary offer of Rs 23 lakh per annum for a student during the campus placement.
The salary was offered by multinational oilfield services provider Schlumberger to a mechanical engineering graduate with a CTC of Rs 23 lakh per annum for posting in India and Rs 44 lakh per annum in case of overseas placement, NIIT Director (Tiruchirappalli) M Chidambaram said.
I guess it should be NIT (former REC) and not NIIT as quoted in this express article.
Correct me if I am wrong iPadders.

jsbi – You may be correct but all sites are stating that its NIIT. However, all of them seem to be getting this from PTI which may have screwed up…

NIT Trichy as quoted in these articles is abbreviated as NITT
its not a big deal in overseas (where you will easily get job with salary 1 – 2 lacks) but yes …in India its really big deal
