The site says Even though the popularity of slashdot.org is supposedly declining, I feel there is a niche to fill in the niche of Sepia Mutiny, drupal clone, Indianpad, a digg clone, etc

I wonder what that niche is , which slashdot.in talks about in its first post ?

If you’d like to trademark your site in india, drop me mail. For under 5k you can get your site trademarked in India and prevent unnecessary headaches. jiyocricket at gmail dot com I’ve done that to my site.. A little precaution goes a long way.

I was also surprised that you were able to get “slashdot.in“ because these days due to phishing scams online biz folks generally buy out their names in all domains. ( eg .tv, .biz, .in ..etc.. )

couple of people asked for clarification. Its 5k INR not USD

since most if not all countries have their own domain names that would be impractical… but i agree, I don’t know why they didn’t buy slashdot.in
