The Supreme Court on Monday issued a show-cause notice to Uttar Pradesh government for using public money for installing statues of Chief Minister Mayawati and others.

The vacation bench comprising Justices Dalveer Bhandari and AK Ganguly, while taking cognizance of the issue, asked the state government to file an affidavit within four weeks detailing their arguments supporting the use of public money to erect statues across the state.
