I am using it. It is like saying since hotmail was there, there can not be any other email.

I agree with gd007 but I couldn’t find anything new about the site. Does it have any features that are missing in del.icio.us?

We just launched indiamarks a few weeks back and what you are seeing is an early version. Right now, there is not much differentiation in functionality than delicious, but we have a number of features coming in the next several weeks.

However, on a broader perspective the idea is that social bookmarking is beneficial when an specific community bookmarks and shares interesting links. For example: delicious pretty much has the early adopter tech-savvy community and most of the links you discover are technology and design centric. If say, a doctor goes to delicious she might not find it as useful. However, if there was a medical social bookmarking site this doctor user will benefit a lot more. delicious can do this as well, but it may be tough to achieve.

indiamarks focuses on building a indian community centric social bookmarking service, and we will be evolving into some new directions as you’ll see with some upcoming features. Ofcourse, a lot of the success will depend upon how soon it can attract a critical mass.

By the way, how many good indian sites are in your bookmarks/favourites ? I hardly have any expect indianpad / hotvideos / garamvideos ..
