Nice! Can we have a sidebar that shows discussions in progress. It could refresh every 10-15 sec like the Live Cast page.

Can we also get time on the chat messages. That way we know how old these messages are. Also, a who’s online kinda status bar on top would be great…
prob a mouse over the user… can tell which story he/she is currently under… tool tip kinda thing
@dayal – Thats too ‘big brother’ for me. Who is on the chat page is probably a better indicator. I don’t want people to know which stories I am reading…

You should also look at a chat window that can be detached (pop-up) by the user so that we can keep that on top of other windows or chat without the full browser toolbar, etc.

well it takes the embed code nyways
- they should have a delete or edit option after every msg is sent
- man there should be a vote down button to remove the messagee.
Ok some things I think would make the chat section better:
The date and time these posts are being made – I kept the chat room open from 11:30am yesterday til 3:30 am this morning and only one time did someone show up, but I was away from my computer – when I came back I had no idea how old the message was and no one responded so im assuming it was older.
Showing previous chat logs for when you weren’t there would be nice too. I just went to check it and the second to last comment was about me, but I couldn’t see what was being said before that because it was off the page by then.
Showing active people looking at chat would also be nice so you aren’t just sitting there wondering if you are the only one even there…
An edit or retract statement feature would be cool too, but not totally necessary because this is live chat – if you’ve made a mistake simply type a corrected statement following it to void out the previous one (as with any messenger system)
I really like that you can embed pictures and videos in it – so
that’s a cool feature I’d definitely keep and I really just
like the idea of having a chat room – although I’d really like
for there to actually be someone in there to talk to finally
Hope to see someone there and to see this feature become a prominent one on the site – I think it could be really fun and helpful for people having trouble rather then making posts about it and for us to get to know each other more!

@masala – A detachable chat page is in the works as well
@dayal – Embedding is allowed. You can embed everything on the
chat that you were able to embed on the site… – We will allow
owners to strikeout their comments. The comments will remain
but with a strike out line over them – like this
text – Voting is also in the works.
@evie – Time and date is being planned but the problem is whose time to show – the server or the users. We may stick with GMT and leave the calculation up to the users. – Previous chat logs will be shown (we will add page numbers like the main page). – Displaying active users on the page is planned as well. – No edit feature. Strikeout will be provided. – The chat is still in pre-beta. When it moves to beta we will start showing it on the front page.
I just noticed that the chat module has been moved to the front page. I hope to see more activity there now…
