I added mine, but I don’t see in at the top… Any suggestions?

Well I still don’t see it, but I’ve been looking at this new ad section and I just wanted to say it’s really cool! I can see this being very useful to those who are advertising their own site.

@Evie – All images have to be manually approved so that objectionable content is not shown on the general category. Try using a ‘Shift + Refresh’ if you still cant view the ad.

Great idea about the paid ads.

Just couple of questions:

• How much control advertiser’s will have?
  • Mainly, ad impression based on time of the day.
  • Like, only 1000 impression per hours, etc.
• If story publisher choose a “free ads” then how are paid ads are going to be shown?
• I see around 25,000 visits/day, what is the pageviews/day?

@ulinkx – You can create a campaign under your profile to see the various options (the campaign is not activated till you make a payment so you are welcome to play with the feature).

Currently, you can only choose the type of stories your ads can appear on (General/18+/All). We plan to add categories to the mix pretty soon. Time is a good idea but not on our radar for now.

If a user chooses ‘free ads’ or enters a valid Yahoo publisher ID then our ads will NOT be shown under the story. In this case, only the spots on the top will be used by us to place ads.

In April, we had an average of 28,000 visits and 475,000 page views a day. However, 40-50% of our pages don’t have any ads so only about 250,000 pageviews would have ads. 40-50% of this inventory will be given away to the top 3 users in the ‘IPadder of the Month’ contest and through free ads to users. So we would have about 150,000 pageviews available for advertisers.

This is a pretty sweet feature…

$1 = 1,000 ad impressions?
$100 = 100,000 ad imp.
$150 = 150,000

each day = $150 OMG! = $10,000 worth ipadder of the month award… (mr indianpad – you some santa claus or what? Always gifting just too much )

I tried one campaign here. Would like to check the stats and also I would like to create better banners, if anyone has idea about creating banners online, please pass on.

@maverick – We have approved your ad for now but we have a policy of rejecting ads if they do not display the name of the site on the banner. The ad for Popuplace is a perfect example of a great ad and it consistently gets the highest click-through rate of all ads on IndianPad.

Some of you have uploaded ads with flashy text and animated icons. Please note that we only allow soft, smooth text animation in ads that is not annoying or distracting. We understand that this allows you to put more content in the ad but we dont wish the ad section to become annoying to our users.

Kindly do not upload ad images that are too flashy and please make sure that the sites name is visible or the images will be rejected.

UPDATE – Animate ads are now only allowed in the 480×60 images.

Indianpad, You must allow an option to control the number of impressions per day and also channel (Category, i.e, Books or News) targetting will give more specific targetting for paid ads.

@indianboy – We are planning category targeting very soon.

Time slot targeting (as suggested by ulinkx) and throttling (ads per hour) may also be added in future releases.

Also, we give 5-10% extra impressions for free to most advertisers to cover up any impressions they may have lost while playing with the ad settings.

It’s first time I tried Ad’s any where. It’s amazing how fast 1000 Impressions exhausted. (That shows how popular your site is) It’s good atleast you can manually control by disabling when ever you want. Adding scheduled Time slotting will be great addition.

My test run was great. I will display somemore ad’s tomorrow.

Just one querry..Ipadder of month’ ads will be shown as small boxes above the story or as large boxes below the story?
Also I cant see any ad in the small boxes (4 boxes above the story)..

@munna – ‘IPadder of the Month’ winner (and the other top 2 users) will be given one free ad slot. You can either choose one 120×90 image that would appear on top of the page or one 480×60 image under the stories.

All ‘IPadder of the Month’ winners get a free campaign with 100 million page views allotted in it. This should keep your ads running for the whole month. You should have one as well (for February 2007) but it seems you have not loaded any ads in it. You may go ahead and load an ad in that campaign…

@munna – I see 2 ads running in that area. You may have some ad-blocker that is blocking them…

no avaksi..i have ‘no-script’ but that is enabled for ipad..also i cant see them in IE 7

indianpad – I have submitted my ad twice. Got rejected both the times . I wonder if I am doing anything wrong here . If I did know why the ad was rejected I can make appropriate changes the next time I submit.

@punchman – The ad has been approved. It might be helpful to know that the plain ads (like Popuplace) usually generate the highest CTR.

It would be great if other users can chime in to let us know if animated ads are acceptable or too annoying…

i am really surprised why i cant see ads..Is it only me or anyother face the same problem?

@indianpad – I personally feel that animated ads are a little annoying. But they bring the highest CTR i believe. Have tried a 1000 views package. And it seem great. Gonna buy more . CTR is around 4.25% though. I wonder whats the CTR for Popuplace.

Can you please look into it? I am trying different ad placements to best suit my site.

This is the first time I tried placing ads on any site.I’m getting clicks but funds are going in a snap bcoz of the Indian Pad viewership popularity.I’m waiting for category ads that displays my ads only for say for some filters that if popular stories has say more than 10+ stories on “news” category then only display my ad.@IndianPad any details of rough estimate of when category ads might be available? This way I’ll have control over my funds.“Display Everywhere” may be good for some big blog businesses.

@kdonthar – I dont see why category based ad display should have different rates than the ones presently. Though Indianpad will be able to clarify this. Again dont think we can have “if-else” conditions for the ads display. Ads will only be displayed category wise I guess. So that you have more targeted viewers to your site.

@kdonthar – many in queue and just a couple of boxes available.I don’t think you should be juggling your mind in conditions…

1. I added funds to my campaign but the control panel dsnt reflect this change.
2. I uploaded an ad that was rejected. And you have approved the same ad earlier. The only reason I uploaded it again was that I want to show it only on 18+ section and not general. The option that the CP dsnt give me after running the ad.

@kdonthar – We are planning to have the category system up by end of this month. However, the top ads will only be ‘partially’ covered under the category based triggers cause they are on the front page as well.

@punchman – Your funds have been applied to your account. Please note that Paypal can take a few hours to send us the confirmation of transferred funds.

We are not allowing any animated ads for the top boxes anymore. You may still use animation in the 480×60 images. All rejected images will display a reason in the ad control panel.

Thats nice indianpad . Now that a reason is displayed, it makes the system more interactive.

BTW i did upload an animated ad in free ads for 480X60. It dsnt seem to show up in the control panel as an animated ad

This has been discussed before – All free ads are converted to jpg images on the fly so I don’t think they can display any animation…

@avaksi – Thanks for the info. I am new here and learning much.

@indianpad – My control panel says that my ad is approved and running. I have about 1000 views left. But the campaign status says “Finished – Add funds to re-enable”. And so is my ad not appearing . I tried emailing you earlier but no response. So thot commenting here is the best way I can get in touch quicker. Hope its not an issue.

i think indianpad can give the ad spot to a random user each month/week. this will give incentive to inactive users to submit more stories. since it is only $1 for 1000 impressions, you are not giving much away.

IndianPad is already giving 3 spots on the top so this may be asking a bit too much…

Also, if its given randomly then there is no incentive! If they think about it then they should randomly give it to one of the Top 25/50 users…

well it doesn’t have to be completely random. they can have rules like : at least 1 post, 2 comments, and 5 votes each week!

Have placed a 480X60 banner in paid ads section. But it seems like almost all the posts are still showing “indianpad” ads. And my page impressions are moving very slowly.

If I am not wrong there are atleast 1,50,000 ad impressions a day available for advertisers and its almost been half an hour now and I have got only about 170.

Can someone please clarify? I thot the indianpad ads were default and should be substituted with ads of advertisers.

I am testing different ad placements before I can go with a full-fledged advertising campaign here. So need to know the rate of ad impressions I can get.

@punch – Your ad is shown in rotation with all other ads including the IndianPad ads. The IndianPad ads will be disabled once we have enough advertisers for the 480×60 spots.

You are paying per impression so if your ads are getting lower impressions then your funds will just last a longer time.

@indianpad – Not a bad idea. But what worries me is the number of impressions that the ipadder of the month would get when he would be able to place his ads in the Ipadder campaign. Instead of a slot that runs month long, cant we have say XXXXX page impressions awardred to the winners? Or a better way of putting it say XXX USD worth ads free for the winners? I think this would be a much better way. Wat say?

i would like to have a feature, where i can choose the countries for which my ADS can be displayed..
like i already have lot of visitors from india, so don’t want to display my ADS for indian users..
