Sue Barker presents live coverage of the closing ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, with Huw Edwards, Hazel Irvine and Carrie Gracie.

The Chinese are expected to stage another fantastic spectacle full of glitz, and spendour with a festival of fireworks. However, it will have an extra significance to Britain as the Olympic flag is formally handed over to the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, by the Mayor of Beijing, and the nation gets an opportunity to look forward to the 2012 Games in London with an eight-minute segment showcasing the best of London’s culture to a global audience of billions.

The Closing Ceremony is preceded at around 12.10pm by a review of the sporting moments and stories that have made a significant impact on the Beijing Games, along with an assessment of its impact and success.
