I think, when create a new User Id – look the IP address, found andy duplicate IP address & stop the ID.

I agree with that, I am sure there is a lot going on behind our backs in IP because of the stiff competition, I have also noticed a sudden surge of new members who vote and post more than normal which raises doubts, but thats just me speaking my mind.

To ban an IP would mean few will experience problems if using a net center, sharing computer etc, but there ought to me more ways to deal with this…

TB, I agree with you on this. I find the whole voting pattern so weird and un-true. Not just that but people are treating this place as a spam ground.

Probably, If they are using proxies with common ports, Indianpad should restrict voting on qued stories or Indianpad should reveal a part of ip address in the ‘live telecast’ or something better to fix it.

I think they are still testing and if things are not controlled now it will give those people greater confidence to help them get to the front page. BTW, Even the voting pattern bcoz of Ipad competition is kinda weird with those duplicate accounts like Tolly Said. Thats what even I felt. Its un-fair.

Voting pattern is screwed up big time and top 3 are responsible for it. also, it costed spencer a xtra month to fetch ipadder of the month since he deserved it in the 1st place.

BUT, its inevitable for the top 3 and its gonna be like that for a couple of months.

Devil, Good idea. I’m with you. Indianpad should donate the money which is meant for the Yearly prize to some charity or something, and give the top 3-5 users some Ad space.

• So if you vote , then no body from your locality ( if using same ISP ) should be able to vote ?

• Humm … So if your company is using NAT ( Network Address Translation ) and if you open up an account, then no one else can open account from company’s network ?

• Thats the only viable and best solution. However, 1000’s of new proxies come up every day and it would really difficult to keep track of them. Its very hard to detect proxies set in `transparent` mode.
• Moreover, iirc IPad has also put in some algorithm in place so that anonymous votings don’t count that much.

• You are leading, post good stories, vote for good stories,steadying your way to get that iphone SUDDENLY you see mass posting, mass voting – What will you do? Will you let go a years hardwork, and restrict yourself to good stories?

Please don’t get me started on the “duplicate user accounts”... I have someone talking to me through his/her different profiles… But again, I think that this is not fair and something has to be done to stop this.

Devil, Well the mass poster like me, you and tolly must agree on restricting ourself to posting 15-20 good stories like we used to do rather then posting everything on Internet.

I think if the majority of top users agree on scrapping the Ipad of the year prize as proposed by Devil. Indianpad should consider it and this should help us all have healthy voting and posting. Indianpad, please do comment if you get a chance.

When all user fair Story submit with mindfully, then solv this problem. But some User quickly many ID open & submit new story, voting without checking this story. In this position top ranker user think new system & stop this problem.

Probably have a limit of 200-250 stories in a month rather then having per day which m sure will address Krpton’s issue of the new users.

BTW, Looks this story was not spared too by the problem.

I too agree with spencer, keep a limit of 20-30 stories for a user, this should definitely improve the quality of posts.

Actually i do not think story restriction would do any good. There are many factors which would effect the rank of indianpad drastically.

Please don’t get me wrong, I am not really after the iPhone[I am using it] but it would be nice to have something for everyone for a spirited competition. I am sure Indianpad will not have any problem donating the money alloted to the charities, but I am sure whoever wins it can always ask for it to be donated.

Doing this can bring voting manipulation into play and severely make most members to leave/drop activity on Indianpad due to a feel of helplessness if stories are not responded to as expected. The concept of a Good story will always get votes is a bit in the jeopardy. There should never be any kind of restriction on the user posting, it will send out negative vibes through out Indianpad

Indianboy, It is not possible to catch up with Devil what ever the other top 10 iPadders do this year unless Devil stops posting completely. There is no point in restricting ourselves, if we have to catch up with devil, all ipadders will have to work like crazy on Indianpad.

Krypton, Its not love or hate Indianboy is talking about, but it does seem a bit suspicious when someone disappearing from the scene for almost a month comes back and gives one member about 1500 votes in 2 days when the competition between the top 4 is really tight. I was shocked to see Devil gain 1000 votes in one day over all of us, which doesn’t seem really share to the others in the competition, obviously its your vote but please don’t tell us you like those 1000 stories by devil

Since he is not the same person, i dont think it’s a right thing to target him for the votes (because he has the right to vote for anyone, Because it’s his own vote) he has given. I am not defending him but the fact you targeting me.

I’d have condemned this if he were a person who posted 30-50 stories and given me or anyone votes. But he is a fucking senior member with 4th highest no of stories on indianpad.

Also – I do NOT complain when some members vote for stories of some specific members due to this stiff competition.
