What's the definition of ADULT STORY on Indianpad?

Indianpad is booming, we see new users posting stories everyday. Just like Spiderman ka uncle said “With great powers come great responsibility” ... over here on Indianpad it can reiterated as, more number of viewers ( of all ages ) also means we will have to be more responsible with what we post in non-adult categories.

Indianpad is no longer like a Boy-Hostel it used to be once, if you want to have that feeling – go to adult section. As users of this site, we share news we read from Indianapad with others, but we think twice before giving the links thinking about the type of stories he/she may see on this site. ( even in non adult section )

So, my question is

  • what is adult ?
  • How you make the decision that this story which i am posting should that go into adult or not ?

Thanks

Any story or website which would be objectionable to a mother should go into the ‘Adult’ section. IMO, the ‘Mother Test’ is the most reliable…

Easy solution, let the crowd decide what is adult. In the problem drop down add a choice “Move to Adult Section”. If enough (2 or 3) ppl select that option the story automagically get moved to Adult section.

yeah thats nice idea garam … just like 5 negative votes disables the story… similarly 5 votes of type “move to adult” pushes the story to adult section.

HOWEVER

that is solution to adult story posted in normal section, my question is towards – HOW you tell that this story should be in adult ?

Well that depends…

Indian censor board uses this system:

The rating system they have incorporated is as follows:

  • U : Universal (or Unrestricted): This rating is given to a movie which has no objectionable material. A movie which has a rating of U contains no or minor violence and sensuality. This rating is similar to G and PG of the MPAA.
  • U/A : Unrestricted with adult accompiament. This rating is given to a movie which contains mild violence, language and sensuality. The movie may contain some material unsuitable for children under 12. This rating is similar to 12A of BAFTA and PG-13 of the MPAA.
  • A : Adults: This rating is given to a movie which contains extreme violence, sexuality (partial nudity also included), frightening images and language. This rating is similar to R of the MPAA.
  • S : Special: This rating is very rare. This rating indicates that the movie is only for special class.

The US MPAA uses this system:
Unrestricted:

  • G – General Audiences – All ages admitted.
  • PG – Parental Guidance Suggested – Some material may not be suitable for young children. These films contain some mild language, humor, and/or violence.
  • PG-13 – Parents Strongly Cautioned – Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13. These films contain sexuality, language, humor, and/or violence.

Restricted:

  • R – Restricted – Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian 21 years or older with photo I.D. These films contain, strong adult language, strong sexuality, nudity, strong violence, and/or gore, and drug use.
  • NC-17 – No One 17 And Under Admitted (18 and older ONLY) Films contain excessive graphic violence, sex, aberrational behavior, drug abuse, strong adult language, or any other elements which, when present, most parents would consider too strong and therefore off-limits for viewing by their children. (NC-17 Does not necessarily mean obscene or pornographic; in the oft-accepted or legal meaning of those words. The Board does not and cannot mark films with those words. These are legal terms for courts to decide)

Others:

  • NR or Not Rated – Not an MPAA rating. Used for independent or foreign films that are in limited release and have not been submitted to the MPAA for a rating classification. Also used by a film that is soon to be released and has trailers out for promotional purposes, but has not yet received a final rating. Advertisements for films with a pending rating contain the notice “This film is not yet rated”. Most films released before 1968 carry this policy.
  • X – The precursor to the current NC-17 rating that unlike the other ratings was not trademarked. Because it was not trademarked it became so widely used by the US pornography industry that the MPAA replaced it with the NC-17 rating in 1990.

Well those are accepted social norms for rating content, no one is asking you to censor yourself just to rate content.

I think the MUMMY test posted by merifiles is the best way to decide, what do you guys think ?

We can also put something “Mummy ka Fatka“ in the vote down list, so that if 5 people vote your stories as adult .. the category gets automatically changed.
