Besides issuing separate visas to Indian passport holders from Jammu and Kashmir, China is also projecting the disputed territory as an independent country in other ways. Visitors to Tibet, especially journalists invited by the Chinese government, are given handouts where Kashmir is indicated as a country separate from India. Media kits providing “basic information” about Tibet – which China attacked and annexed in the 1950s – says Tibet “borders with India, Nepal, Myanmar and Kashmir area”. Except the “Kashmir area”, the other three are sovereign countries.

Maps too, available in China, Myanmar and Nepal, show an India denuded of Kashmir. Also, China’s policy of extending assistance to only the government of a country indicates it considers India’s nuclear rival and neighbour Pakistan to be in control of Pakistan-administered Kashmir by offering financial assistance to build a dam on the Indus river there.

China, now locked in a row with India, is also asking for the tightening of the open border between India and Nepal that, it says, is abetting anti-China activities and demonstrations by Tibetans crossing into Nepal from India. Beijing is also indirectly asking for the closure of the seat of the Dalai Lama, the exiled leader of the Tibetans, in Dharamshala in India, hinting that such a step would improve India-China relations.

Wow.. They want to annex Tibet and Taiwan (among many other territories) into China, and they’re saying Kashmir isn’t part of India? Clear proof they have their own evil imperialist agenda.

And if they have their own Agenda, then India cannot stop them. I mean Hello, you should accept the reality of China being the Next Super Power in coming 5 10 years. (Reality Bite)

I can respect that China will be a super power – in fact I think they are already a superpower. but that still doesn’t mean we are helpless. I still refuse to believe that India cannot stop them from bullying us.

I think we should agree that Kashmir is a separate country. But then, so should Balochistan and Tibet. (Reality Bites Back).

Talking about reality bites, since the “Islamic Republic of Pakistan” will no longer exist by the time that China becomes a super power, India can rightfully claim back that territory. A united Punjab and Sindh will be nice to have. As for the FATA, we’ll let the US clean them up and then hand them over to Afghanistan (or Balochistan) and finally, India can coexist in peace with her neighbours.

Interesting point of view chetanw.. I think your point also applies to Taiwan.

I think that if we agree to making Kashmir a separate country, that will bring peace, but:
1. For the people of kashmir, prosperity will end and they will get dominated by China and Pakistan who would be far more powerful than them.
2. The decision to make separate Kashmir from India should be one made by India and Kashmiri leaders, not imposed on us by Pakistan or China or anyone else for that matter.

@theascendedmaster,

My decision to provide independence to Kashmir was purely sarcasm. An independent Kashmir country won’t remain independent for very long.

At this point, the people of Kashmir are just fed up with both the Indian Security forces and the Terrorists and are desperate to return to normal. I think that is why they are pursuing the mirage of independence.

The faster that life returns to normal in Kashmir, the better.

This conversation is work no where. It’s wanting the range of a grave humanlike to perversion the things to ascend out on happening.
