Addressing his first public rally in nearly three months, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray continued with his tirade against North Indians.
Challenging Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo Lalu Yadav, Raj Thackeray threatened him against doing Chhath Puja in Mumbai.
“Let Lalu come and does Chhath Puja outside my house. He will not go back,” Raj said at the second anniversary rally of the MNS at at Shivaji Park on Saturday.
In February, Raj Thackeray had ridiculed Chhath Puja calling it a drama and said that it had become a means of show of strength by the Biharis and North Indians.
“There are Punjabis, Sindhis, Parsis and all kind of people. Why don’t we feel threatened by them? But these North Indians are showing their strength. There is Garba, Dandiya, Durga Puja. But I have never felt that they are showing strength. But why during Chhath Puja we feel that they are showing their strength,” Raj told his supporters at the rally.
He also justified his stance against Amitabh Bachchan whom he had accused of being more loyal to his home state of Uttar Pradesh than Maharashtra.
He also claimed that all anti-social elements in Mumbai are from North India.
“What wrong did I say about Amitabh Bachchan. He fought the first election in UP. Didn’t he act only in Bhojpuri outside? He became the brand ambassador of UP. All the goons from UP are in Mumbai. The first school in Aishwarya’s name is in UP. What wrong did I say?” he asked.
“I only said that if Amitabh can have love for his state, why cant I?” he continued.
Raj also used Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss’ statement, where he had said that UP and Bihar were responsible for spreading polio, to target the North Indians.
