Romantic comedy “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani”, which stars
Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif, has sent the box office cash
registers ringing, elbowing out Madhur Bhandarkar’s “Jail” on
the first day Friday.

“‘Ajab Prem Ki…’ has got a terrific initial thanks to the star
cast but it will suffer on the content part. While ‘Jail’ has
had a very slow opening…that of only around 20 percent. Shelf
life for both movies is only limited till Monday,” Joginder
Mahajan, a Delhi-based distributor told <span class=

Everything that comes out of Hollywood need not be always
perfect. Even if the filmmaker at the helm of affairs is none
other than Quentin Tarantino, an institution in himself, one
can’t get extraordinary results in each of his outings.
However, from Tarantino one did expect a lot more out of this
150 minutes long drama.

Now this is turning out to be too bad to be true. Just like
“District 9″ last week, even “Up” has arrived at Indian shores
sans any fanfare. Both films are masterpieces in their own
rights, but none released with the kind of hype that would have
made Indian audiences root for them.

Legendary Kamal Haasan has portrayed the common man role with
finesse. It can be debatable as he really looked like an
‘ordinary layman’ but his star power glues us to watch the
proceedings with interest. It is welcome change that Venkatesh
has accepted this film as it ushers in new trend for
multi-starrers. In the role of a Police Commissioner, he has
given one of the best performances in his career. Although he
shares screen space with Kamal in just one scene, he does it
for Kamal.

Bharat Reddy and Ganesh Raman as the young cops are equally
adept. Especially Ganesh as Muslim cop is believable. Lakshmi’s
character is distraction and is not necessary to the smooth
flow of the movie. Poonam Kaur appears in couple of scenes. The
girl who played the journalist is okay. But the comedy show –
Bush and Mush – is complete waste.

The film is shot on Red Camera and its effect is visible as the
visuals are really rich and bright. Bollywood cinematographer
Manoj Soni has done good job, so is the editor Ramesh. Director
Chakri Toleti has succeeded in presenting it without deviating
from the original story but he should have concentrated more on
the emotional base to make it more engrossing. He seems to have
good visual sense.

An alcoholic woman is murdered, and thus begins a process of
deconstruction that takes the plot back to where it all
started.

It’s hard to pinpoint where “Blue Oranges” begins. The director
has chosen an intricate flashback-and-forth mode of
storytelling that he isn’t always able to carry off with elan.
But the art is in the right place…a part of the plot is devoted
to the hazy world of fake paintings and names like M.F. Husain
are mentioned in passing.

Story:
Magadheera is about rebirth and revenge. Harsha (Ram Charan) is
a bike racer. He accidentally touches the hand of a girl Indu
(Kajal) that creates sparks in his body. He meets Indu, but she
hides her identity and plays pranks with him. Indu’s father
(Surya) is fighting to get back their ancestral Udaighad
castle. His nephew (Dev Gil) eyes Indu, kills his uncle, and
puts the blame on Harsha. From this point on, the story goes
back in time 400 years.

Kalabhirava (Ram Charan) acts as a bodyguard to Udaigadh’s
princess Mitravinda (Kajal) and also trains the king’s
soldiers. Mitravinda loves Kalabhairava. On the other hand, the
king’s nephews Billa (Dev Gil) wants to take over the kingdom
and marry the princess. In a challenge, Billa gets defeated by
Kalabhairava. Meanwhile, a muslim emperor Sher Khan (Srihari)
plans to take over the kingdom with the help of Billa. In an
epic battle, Kalabhiarava saves the kingdom and also gets

Harry Potter has kept his fans waiting for two years, the
longest school break they have had to endure for a new movie
adventure about the teen wizard.

And it’s been worth the wait.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the sixth movie in the
fantasy franchise based on J K Rowling’s books, is the
franchise’s best so far, blending rich drama and easy
camaraderie among the actors with the visual spectacle that
until now has been the real star of the series.

<img src=
"http://www.indianpad.com/imgcache/2.bp.blogspot.com/4f69d015559507d9a38ff3fc45cac916.jpg"

Most fans know the shocker in store involving Dumbledore and
the ominous Professor Snape (Alan Rickman). Like their young
co-stars, Gambon and Rickman live and breathe these characters
by now, Dumbledore a towering presence of grace and nobility,
Snape a delightful cold fish whose actions reveal his
tiger-shark stripes.

Visual-effects technology definitely have caught up with
Rowling’s imagination and the filmmakers have some rowdy fun
with their splendid images.

The Quidditch match on flying broomsticks is like airborne
rugby, the way the players hammer into one another. And the
broomsticks between the boys’ legs take on a bawdy phallic look
that wryly complements the sexual themes emerging among the
teens.

Director Yates is also making the two-part adaptation of the
seventh and final book, the movies due out in November 2010 and

Transformers wastes no time getting right to the incredible
robot action we’re all hungering for, and rushes directly from
the credits to eye-popping, rampant robot destruction. What
really holds the film together though is that even when it’s
knee deep in save the world, all out, brawling in the streets,
giant freakin robot war, at the core of everything is the
simple story of a boy and his first car. For a man, there are
few things more powerful than the relationship he has with his
first automobile, and it’s no different for Sam Witwicky

After pulling all the strings to stand by their two-month
strike against the multiplexes’ profit-sharing model, the
United Producers and Distributors Forum has pulled out its ace
card. No Hindi film will release this Friday. Moreover, after
two weeks, the Forum plans to withdraw all films that are
running in multiplexes. “After April 24, we are going to
withdraw the older content also, like Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and
Ghajini. We wanted to give each film five to six weeks’ time,
before we withdraw it completely,” Priti Shahani, senior
vice-president, Indian Films Company.

The strike is the first-of-its-kind in the history of the Hindi
film industry since the first multiplex was set up in 1997. The
Multiplex Association has not yet contacted the United
Producers/Distributors Forum after Tuesday’s conference where
the two of the industry’s most powerful stars, Aamir Khan and
Shah Rukh Khan, were roped in to stand by the demand for 50 per
cent profit sharing against the multiplexes’ performance-based
sharing.

But for those who just have to watch a film first day, first
show, there are Ek Se Bure Do and Pal Pal Dil Ke Ssaath, that
do not promise to provide much respite, apart from the
scheduled English film releases. “Pal Pal…’ is a Shringar film
owned by Fame and Ek Se…’ is being released as a special case
after due permissions as it might not see a mainstream release
otherwise,” said Shahani.
