The family has asked to remain anonymous. At one time thought to portray Galileo Galilei, the great astronomer, it shows a man in three-quarter profile wearing a hat with a feather in it. Mr Barbatelli, who found the painting by chance while researching the history of the Templar Knights and the First Crusade, told The Times that although Leonardo came from Vinci in Tuscany and worked in Florence and Milan, he was known to have visited Basilicata.

India to launch cow urine as soft drink

Does your Pepsi lack pep? Is your Coke not the real thing? India’s Hindu nationalist movement apparently has the answer: a new soft drink made from cow urine.

The bovine brew is in the final stages of development by the Cow Protection Department of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), India’s biggest and oldest Hindu nationalist group, according to the man who makes it.

Om Prakash, the head of the department, said the drink – called “gau jal”, or “cow water” – in Sanskrit was undergoing laboratory tests and would be launched “very soon, maybe by the end of this year”.

Google Operating System has uncovered some more clues that lead them to believe a storage solution that syncs files on your computer with Google’s massive infrastructure is on the way.

In addition to the icon, discovered in a Google Apps CSS file, there is reportedly an update for Google Docs on the way that would include a desktop client for syncing files with GDrive. Docs would seem to be a natural home for a Google storage solution – it already offers support for lots of different common file types, and can more or less serve as an online backup, without the sync features of a desktop solution like Mozy.

Lakshmi Niwas Mittal, the London-based billionaire who controls ArcelorMittal, the world’s largest steel company, is believed to have evinced interest in buying ailing low-cost carrier SpiceJet.

“He (Mittal) would like to go for a full buyout,” a source familiar with the development said.

This will require Mittal buying, apart from the promoters’ stake, the $80 million (Rs 350 crore) foreign currency convertible bonds (FCCBs) that SpiceJet issued to Istithmar, the Dubai government’s investment arm, and investment bank Goldman Sachs.

The Tatas hold around 7% stake in the airline.

Speculation surrounding YouTube’s future is nothing new. The company has been bleeding money as it struggles to find a sustainable revenue model to cover its massive bandwidth costs, and an entrenched suitor like Yahoo or Google could give it a way out. However, copyright infringement issues could stall any buyout, as much of YouTube’s content has been uploaded without permission.
