It isn’t difficult to imagine that we need to take a lot of
screenshots during the course of a day here at Mashable. Sure
you can do the old “Print Screen” trick, but that’s a lot more
hassle than it’s worth when there are so many great options out
there, especially if you are using Firefox as your browser.
Here are eight Firefox 3 screenshot tools that are worth

Many Internet browsers allow ad-free browsing, but privacy

have a large impact on Internet advertising.

The new feature, called “InPrivate Blocking,” was designed to
allow users to anonymously browse websites and keep their
surfing activities private. It has been dubbed “porn mode” for
its most obvious use.

Details of the next Internet Explorer were announced yesterday,

And with a $300 million investment, the Redmond company seems

Keyword Master is a new photostock keyword helper for Mac OS X.
This free utility does Counting (how many words you are going
to post), Separating (uses various types of separating
characters), Dividing (separates entered string using lines
with entered number of words), Sorting and more. The software
is aimed at photographers who often post photos to photostock
and need to prepare keywords for their photos, the developer
says.

“If you are photographer, and you often post the photos to
photostock, you know how
difficult it is to prepare keywords for your photos,” Russian
developer Andrey Mihaylovich explains. “It is good if there is
a program which can help you: count how many words you have
entered and want to post, lowercase or uppercase entered words,
sort them alphabetically, delete duplicate words, etc. [...]
now keyword-organizing helper program for OS X is available! It
is Keyword Master.”

The technology behind Microsoft Photosynth has evolved past the
stage of simple Technology Preview and is now available in its
final form. Fathered by Blaise Agüera y Arcas, who joined
Microsoft Live Labs in 2006, Photosynth is designed to permit
end users to build navigable three dimensional spaces out of 2D
digital photographs. In fact, Microsoft is promising nothing
short of a breakthrough visual medium via the “Synths” created
by users. Synth is of course a new term coined by Microsoft to
refer to collections of digital images put together into a 3D
virtual environment.

“So how does Photosynth work? Photosynth analyzes your photos
for similarities to your other photos in the set and then uses
the information to estimate where the photos were taken from.
Photosynth then re-creates the place the photos were taken and
uses that as a canvas to display your photos. The work done in
analyzing your photos is done via the above mentioned
Photosynth plug-in,” revealed Microsoft’s Brandon LeBlanc.

Need your software tested for functionality, usability, and
durability by a global supply chain of assessors? A company by
the name of uTest, based in Ashland, Massachusetts, is today
announcing the general availability of its network of service
specialists for the software developer arena. The network is
intended to offer a controlled, pseudo real-world trial of a
particular application and present a quality feedback report,
complete with bugs discovered and the like.

It calls its worldwide list of specialists the uTester
Community, and so far it is has claimed companies such as
Xobni,
Move

RepairPal,
and others as customers. Perhaps the most outstanding benefit
of uTest’s international asset base is its on-demand character,
allowing customers the convenience of accessing the powers that
be out in the cloud when needed. For Internet companies
managing a busy release/upgrade schedule, this can naturally be
a major benefit for keeping the process expedient and
maintaining a level of consistency in terms of the product they
ultimately deliver to users.

One of the most important points to consider when trying to
make money from ads on web pages is the proper placement of
ads. If you have done some studies in this area, you could have
come across many people trying to sell their secrets of Ad
placement or how to make more money from properly placing Ads.
However, the basis of many secrets of ad placement is how the
human eye perceives ads, how they fit into the page, and
whether people notice the ads or ignore them. And the basis for
much of this is something called the ‘Heat Map’. The Heat Map
specifies positions on the page that are much more likely to
catch user attention, and other places where users are likely
to ignore the ads.

Microsoft Services Premier Support family has grown with the
introduction of the new “Ultimate” Support offering. According
to the Redmond company, Premier Ultimate is designed to
illustrate strong support offered to customers with the end
purpose of guaranteeing a healthy IT environment. Microsoft
Services Premier Ultimate is available worldwide as of August
18, 2008, for a fixed price, undisclosed by the software giant,
as each contract will be negotiated individually.
But what makes Premier Ultimate “stand out from the crowd” is
the fact that Microsoft is focusing on making available
proactive support, rather than assistance for already existing
problems.

“Customers told us they wanted risk reduction, support planning
simplification and easy administration in an increasingly
complex IT environment,” explained Luca Barone, general
manager, Support and Health Offerings for Microsoft Services.
The new proactive support strategy is aimed at Microsoft’s
largest customers willing to make an investment into an
entirely new way of collaborating with the Redmond company.

What is TinEye?

TinEye is the first image search engine on the web to use image
identification technology. Given an image to search for, TinEye
tells you where and how that image appears all over the
web—even if it has been modified.

Just as you are familiar with entering text in a regular search
engine such as Google to find web pages that contain that text,
TinEye lets you submit an image to find web pages that contain
that image.

Extraordinarily lifelike characters are to begin appearing in
films and computer games thanks to a new type of animation
technology.

Emily – the woman in the above animation – was produced using a
new modelling technology that enables the most minute details
of a facial expression to be captured and recreated.

She is considered to be one of the first animations to have
overleapt a long-standing barrier known as ‘uncanny valley’ –
which refers to the perception that animation looks less
realistic as it approaches human likeness.

Free application CircleDock automatically puts files, folders,
and shortcuts within a few pixels of your mouse when you invoke
it for quick action. CircleDock is completely customizable,

You can rotate the items in the circular dock with your

The app is portable, so you can toss it on your thumb drive and

Privnote allows you to send private notes over the Internet
that will self-destruct after being read.

Write your message and simply get a link to your note. What
makes it different from sending an email for example, is that
your note can be seen only once, and when someone click on this
link, the note is destroyed… and you can be notified when your
note gets read.

Speed Launch is a new app launcher from the Office Labs team
that lets you assign aliases to your favorite programs, web
pages and local documents.

Later, you may just type these aliases to quickly launch the
corresponding web page, program or document. Here’s a quick
demo for the CNN website.

When you install Speed Launch, an icon in the shape of a bull’s
eye gets added to the desktop. You may simply drag-n-drop
files, browser tabs, program shortcuts over this icon to setup
an alias or give that file a more meaningful and
easy-to-remember name.

You may also create shortcuts to write search queries. For
example, to search Wikipedia just type “Wikipedia Search” and
hit enter (it will auto-complete as soon as type the first few
characters). Next, type what you want to search for in
the new window and hit enter.
