You may have already heard of the reverse mortgage but probably
do not completely understand what it means. In this post, I try
to present a clear explanation of what reverse mortgage is and
what are some of the most important advantages and
disadvantages.

Reverse Mortgage is a loan for seniors of age 62 years or older
which involves the lender paying the seniors money depending on
the home equity without having the owner sell the house or move
out. The loan is paid by selling the house when the owner dies
or moves to some other place.

Indian students can become employable if they just improve
their communication skills. This statement is not more than
just a myth. While communication is an important skill, the
complete set of employment skills goes much beyond.

title="" alt="">
In a PurpleLeap study across 100 colleges, it was found that
more than 80 per cent of the students, who were found to be
good in communication skills, did not meet the
‘employment-ready’ criteria.

Before we go into the details of where students in India lag,
let us first understand the importance of different skills
across job roles. Here we are going to focus only on
‘transferable skills’, skills that are applicable across
industries. Apart from these transferable skills, industry
specific functional and technical skills are also important
aspects in improving prospects for a particular role.

The transferable skills can be broadly categorised into the
three areas: thinking skills, behavioural skills and
interaction skills.

Setting up a website is not a very difficult process but
getting traffic to that site requires time and knowledge. How
do you convince people to keep visiting your site? How do you
even tell them that your site even exists? There are several
ways to accomplish that. Some are more time consuming while
others show quick progress. Some are difficult and require
advanced knowledge of marketing while others can be understood
by kids. To narrow the list down, I am going to focus on social
networking sites today and talk about how you can drive traffic
to your websites from these types of sites.

Video Clips in Google Universal Search

Google Universal Search pages can include video clips from
YouTube, MetaCafe and other online video sharing sites so
instead of writing a long web page, you could create a short
video and put it on YouTube. If enough people watch that video
on YouTube, Google may include it in Universal Search results
thus giving indirect exposure to your main site.

A common method of earning money for bloggers is to sell their
blog posts. How does that work? It’s very simple. The buyer
will ask you to write a positive blog post about his company’s
products explaining the key features. Most of the times, the
post will also contain at least one link to the product’s
website. He will pay you a certain amount of money for the job.
And you are done!

When Barack Obama becomes the 44th U.S. President next week,
millions of people will be watching. But inaugurations, by law,
happen at noon ET on Jan. 20, and that means they’re often on
weekdays, when most of the country is at work. So, what’s a
civic-minded day-jobber to do? Watch the ceremony online, of
course! — something that’s only recently become technically
feasible for a widespread audience.

Below is alist of 12 common mistakes, misuses and various ways
new users abuse Photoshop. I have fell victim to a few of these

educate designers and other individuals new to Photoshop. I
encourage all of you to add your own mistakes or tips in the

WordPress is one of the most popular publishing platforms
currently out on the market. It’s free, highly-customizable,
and very easy to install and use. Because of its popularity,
you’ll find a wide array of resources that discuss WordPress
development, administration, as well as plenty of user guides
to help you get started quickly.

In this article, we take advantage of the merits of learning by
way of watching video tutorials and
screencasts. Video tutorials allow you to learn by
following along with the instructor in real-time – a format
that’s very effective for many people.

You can use these video tutorials a couple of ways: to
learn about WordPress yourself or to send to
your not-so-technology-inclined clients as a reference
to help them get started. You’ll find the tutorials
organized into several topics that include theme development
and customization, site administration, beginner’s tutorials,
and using some WordPress tools.

I earlier recommended the <a href=

embedding charts in web pages. It’s very powerful but the
only problem with Charts API is that
it look slightly complicated to most users.

If you no geek but still need to create, or rather generate,

what you need is Chart

director, writer, blogger, and photographer. He authors a blog
at Curious
Affairs.

We’ve all been there: You’re at a party hosted by that one
fabulous friend, and populated with the best of your mutual
circle of friends. The atmosphere is almost carbonated with
excitement; the guests’ personalities flawlessly compliment
each other; and the conversations that abound are infused with
intelligence, caustic wit, and a wide variety of knowledge that
ensures the complete absence of any pregnant, awkward pauses.
Then, it happens: someone appears who just doesn’t…fit.

A similar phenom happens on Twitter. You’re having
conversations with your established Twitter friends, you’re
broadcasting useful information, news, or links to your
followers, and you’re “engaging your Tribe,” etc., when
suddenly, someone begins following you who, much like that
previously referenced party guest, just doesn’t fit. This is
the person whose follow on Twitter you simply cannot bring
yourself to return. This is the follow fail.

Run any number of searches on
Google or
Alexa and you will arrive at a veritable host of articles
offering endless lists of tips on “how to get more followers on
Twitter.” What you will not find are lists compiled by Twitter
“power users” regarding the major reasons why they will or will
not return a Twitter follower’s follow when it happens, and
this is my gift to you: “The Top Ten Reasons Why
I Will Not Follow You In Return On Twitter.”

1. You have no user avatar

…or
your user avatar is neither a personalized photograph nor
reflective of a brand.

More important than whether or not your Twitter profile
background is “designed” is how you choose to present yourself
in that seemingly insignificant 48×48 pixel square. If that
square is empty, impersonal, or otherwise lacking any qualities
that will immediately allow me to visually associate it with
you, that is an immediate Follow Fail. If I am going to build a
Twitter relationship with you, I want to see you, or your
brand, and not, however humorous I may find it, a screen
capture of a magical leoplurodon.

2. You list no location, no website, or no bio

Clearly, Twitter is all about brevity. So how difficult is it
to provide a few additional characters of information that may
offer potential followers more impetus to follow you in return?
I’ve returned countless follows from users whose Twitter
streams I’ve found “meh,” but whose listed blogs, sites, or
portfolios were too amazing to not follow, or whose
160-character bios were too humorous/intriguing to pass up, or
who were in the same city as me and therefore potential project
collaborators.

These fields take two seconds to populate; it would behoove you
to take those two seconds to populate them.

Between current economic conditions and the technological
evolution of the Internet, the traditional approach most job
seekers have taken in the past is no longer viable.

The approach — developing a resume and cover letter, locating
jobs on and submitting your resume to corporate sites and job
banks, and crossing your fingers in hopes of receiving a call
from a hiring manager — is, for the most part, a thing of the
past. The new approach is far different. It boils down to the
fact that there are fewer jobs available, more competition for
those jobs and more touch points for recruiters and seekers to
interact.

The current environment

In 2008, there were 1.2 million
job losses, unemployment is currently at 6.5%, and the
largest companies are shedding as much as 10% of their
workforces. There will be 1.5 million college graduates this
year, yet the
job growth rate is at a six year low, at 1.3%! The amount
of jobs posted online is decreasing at over 13%, which has all
led to the
ratio of 3.3 job seekers per each job.

Social networks are starting to become part of the criteria
that both hiring managers and college admissions officers are
using to weed out applicants.
One in five hiring managers conduct background checks using
social networks (primarily Facebook), while
one in ten college admissions officers do the same.

It’s time for you to be open-minded and think differently about
how you’re going to get your next job and keep it. I’m not
saying you shouldn’t submit your resume to job banks, corporate
websites, vertical job agents (Simply Hired/Indeed) or attend job fairs, but
these should only consume 10% of your time. The other 90%
should be concentrated on the following seven social media
secrets, which will not only get you a job, but help you create
your own dream job!

In days and weeks ahead, India’s ability and preparedness to
tackle and take on terror will be tested. As police officers,
IT workers, shoppers, pilgrims and most importantly as citizens
— what can we do to pass the test?

Can citizens truly help combat terror and related activities or
is it just a mass hysteria that will soon die out?

CNN-IBN debated and discussed the
options and the scenarios on a special show Citizens Against
Terror – a culmination of citizens’ effort in compiling a
charter and a starting point to start getting things
implemented.

Over the last one month CNN-IBN and
Hindustan Times received nearly 10,000 suggestions from readers
and viewers on the Citizens Against Terror campaign.
One-lakh-twenty-thousand people took the pledge to fight terror
in their own way and as many wrote in.

The answer to this question depends on what kind of a blogger
you have and what type of blog you run. Normally, I would
suggest that having an About Me page is a good idea. Why?
Simply because it lets your readers know you in more detail.
The readers prefer to know that they are reading articles
written but a normal human being and not just a machine.
Furthermore, sometimes, knowing a little about the author helps
readers understand the author’s point of view.

But having an About Me page is not always a good idea. I would
say that if your blog is fairly new then you should wait a
little to create your page. Give your blog some time and let it
develop a little before you write your About Me page. No one is
interested in knowing about the author of a blog that contains
only three posts.

This morning after our hill run my sister asked me about
Twitter: “What’s Twitter all about? I don’t get it?”

Neither did I at first — I resisted using Twitter for more than
a year because it seemed like just another distraction, just
another way to waste time and have noisy chatter going on in
front of you.

But I decided to see what the fuss was all about, and did my
Great Twitter Experiment. To my surprise, Twitter was actually
fun, interesting, and useful — if used correctly.

Designing logos is just like any other type of design work, to
be professional you’ll need to pay attention to details. Even a
great idea can be ruined by not thinking about simple things,
the following tips will help you to keep your concepts safe.

Work with vectors This probably sounds
obvious to most designers out there, but it isn’t to
everybody so I repeat it as often as I can to avoid
receiving those damn jpeg logos. Vector formats are the
ones that will allow the most variations for your logo.

Don’t use more than 2 fonts There is many
nice fonts out there and we would all love to use as many
as we can. Unfortunately using too many fonts will most of
the time result in a loss of coherence. Using two different
fonts can be good to create a contrast, catching the
eye.

Keep it readable If people can’t read your
logo, it’s useless to have one. This sounds like dumb
advice again, but it’s easy to get caught in creating
letters or distorting a font until it becomes unreadable.
Always stay aware of that when working on your logo.

Test sizes Your logo should resize well at
any size, whether it’s huge on a truck or tiny on a
badge.

Adapt it for dark backgrounds So you’ve
got a wonderful looking dark logo, but now your client want
to get it on his black car. It’s usually not too hard to
adapt it, but you’ll look more professional if you already
got that case figured out.
