The world’s oldest man is celebrating his 112th birthday at his home in southwestern Japan.
Japan has 32,000 centenarians. Tomoji Tanabe was born on September 18, 1895.
He took the oldest person in the world title in January after the death of 115-year-old Puerto Rican woman Emiliano Mercado del Toro.
Earlier this year, Mr Tanabe received a certificate from Guinness World Records verifying him as the world’s oldest male.
Asked how many more years he wants to live, Mr Tanabe reportedly said: “Infinitely.”
