The Chairman of the Pakistan cricket Board, Nasim Ashraf has accused a section of the Indian media for trying to scandalise fast bowler, Shoaib Akhtar during the current tour of India.
Ashraf’s verbal attack came after some Indian newspapers and channels played up Shoaib’s visits to some nightclubs and discos in New Delhi during the team’s stay there last week insisting he was back to his old wayward ways.
But Ashraf on Thursday said Shoaib had been a role model for the team in India.
“He has been a role model. I have spoken to the tour manager. Apparently old footage was used to scandalise Shoaib who has been so far committed and has taken part in no violation of the code of conduct,” he said.
“The team manager has confirmed there has been no violation and there is no truth in the stories about Shoaib,” he added.
