The 500 000 000 (500 million) dollar note as you can tell has 8 zeros and is amongst one of the highest currency denominations in Zimbabwe. The note is amongst a plethora of notes that the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) introduced in recent months in an effort to keep up with inflation put by independent experts at about 10 000 000 % (10 million percent) and climbing; apparently the highest in the world in modern day history. The RBZ is reportedly running the mint factory 24 hours a day on full throttle to keep up with demand for cash to pay the public service i.e. teachers, police and soldiers. This note has nearly brought business to a standstill where ever we have presented it outside of Zimbabwe with people jostling to get a glimpse of this reddish bill. The note will surely fail you should you wish to purchase an egg in Zimbabwe let alone a banana to nourish your health!
