A bitter dispute over the payment of a finder’s fee for two
hikers who discovered the world famous Oetzi The Iceman mummy
has finally been settled.
An Italian province agreed to pay the German couple who
stumbled upon the remarkably well-preserved Stone Age hunter
150,000 euros (£119,770) – 30 times what it originally offered
them as a reward.
Erika and Helmut Simon made world headlines in 1991 when they found the 5,300-year-old remains of the hunter, complete with leather shoes, fur jacket, a knife and a bow.
